The Silver Spur Theater opened in 2004 in what was the 1958 grain and storage building from the Guest & Sanford Gin. The original gin in Salado was built

of wood where the tennis courts are today. After it burned down, a new gin was constructed of tin on the South side of Royal Street in the early 1930's by

Claude Hodge. The theater, operated by professional entertainers with deep family roots in Salado, show films from the early years of the movie industry in

addition to live vaudeville performances.
